DAY 1 & 2: ALPHA & OMEGA GROUP STAGES
Welcome to the first stage of the main event! All 16 players will be seeded by skill level and split into 2 groups of 8. Participants will compete in a Round Robin Format tournament. Group Alpha will play on day 1 & Group Omega on day 2.
The top 4 from each group will proceed to The Final 8 Showdown on day 4.
Format:
Round Robin
8 participants per group
2 days of group play offs
Round Robin Format entails all 8 participants to face each & every player in the group once. To progress a player must win ‘ The Set ‘ to obtain points. The Set consists of winning 2 Games, also referred to as ‘ First to 2 Wins ‘ (FT2) or ‘ Best of 3 Games ‘ (BO3.) The victor of The Set will be rewarded with 1 point.
The Top 4 players with the highest points total of each day will proceed to The Final 8 Showdown! The other 4 participants will be eliminated from the event.
Day 3: Pocket Team Clash
Participants select a partner and a team name. Teams then face off in a 2 versus 2 clash! This tournament has an interesting twist … Main & secondary characters are BANNED! All participants have to make do selecting their strongest pocket characters!
Format:
Double Elimination Bracket
2 vs 2
16 players
8 teams
Double Elimination Bracket format consists of 2 brackets, The Upper Bracket and The Lower Bracket. All teams start in The Upper Bracket with 2 lives. To successfully proceed through the tournament, both players on the opposing team must be defeated by 1 game for victory! The first team to defeat both opposing team members wins and progresses to the next stage of The Upper Bracket proceedings. Losing teams will lose 1 life which in turn drops them down to The Lower Bracket. If both team members are defeated once again in The Lower Bracket they are eliminated from the tournament!
Both Upper and Lower brackets concludes with a winning team. Both teams will then play off in The Grand Finals under the following conditions.
The Upper Bracket team must defeat both team members for victory.
The Lower Bracket team must defeat both team members to reset the bracket. This drags the opposing team down into the Lower Bracket with them. Both teams then face off once again! Whichever team wins at this point will be victorious and win the tournament!
Round win count for the team event will be slightly adjusted in each game:
MK11U: 3 rounds to win
T7: 4 rounds to win
SCVI: 4 rounds to win
Players can change their characters at anytime! REMEMBER! MAIN & SECONDARY CHARCTERS ARE BANNED AND NOT PERMITTED! The reason to ban main & secondary characters is so participants do not learn match ups and obtain a tactical advantage before The Final 8 Showdown.
DAY 4: THE FINAL 8 SHOWDOWN
Now the real fight begins! The Top 4 ranking players from the Alpha & Omega Group Stages are invited to the Main Arena to battle it out until we have a Champion!
Format:
Double Elimination Bracket
8 Players
The Final 8 Showdown is a Double Elimination Bracket Format consisting of 2 brackets, The Upper Bracket and The Lower Bracket. All participants begin in the Upper Bracket with 2 lives. To proceed to the next stage of the Upper Bracket a participant must win ‘ The Set ‘ by being the First to Win 3 Games (FT3) also known as the Best of 5 Games (BO5) to move on successfully.
If a participant loses The Set, 1 of their lives will be removed and they drop down to The Lower Bracket. Once in The Lower Bracket, if you lose another Set you will unfortunately be eliminated from the tournament.
The Grand Final will be a face off between the winner of The Upper Bracket versus the winner of The Lower Bracket.
The Upper Bracket Winner needs to win 1 Set, First to 4 Games (FT4/BO7) to emerge as the Champion of the tournament!
The Lower Bracket Winner needs to win 1 Set (FT4/BO7) to drag The Upper Bracket Winner down to The Lower Bracket with them. This resets the bracket! Whoever wins the next Set First to 4 Games (FT4/BO7) will be declared the Champion of the tournament!!
